The European closed qualifier for DreamHack ZOWIE Open Bucharest has come to a close, as X and Gambit made it past the semi-finals and secured their spots at the event taking place from September 16-18.
The open qualifier took place on Saturday, with 69 teams taking part in the single-elimination, best-of-one bracket which offered eight spots in the closed qualifier.
Most better-known names made it past the last stage, the round of 16, including CIS teams Spirit, NokSuKao and Comanche, as well as fruits, Escape and more.
Gambit will travel to Bucharest in the middle of September
The closed qualifier, where the top eight sides coming from the open stage joined eight invited teams, was being played out throughout today.
X made it through all three matches without too much trouble, disposing of ANOX, Kinguin (who changed their roster earlier today) and finally Space Soldiers in two-map affairs.
On the other side Gambit moved past AT FINEST one-sidedly, crushed ENCE after losing the initial map, and played two narrow maps versus HellRaisers before closing it out with ease on Dust2, the decider.
The participants' list of the $100,000 DreamHack Open stop in Bucharest looks as follows:
